that kind of defeats the purpose of the weekend event, doesn't it?
they're doing it to try to draw more players to these 2 maps. but with double faction, afk leechers have double reason to be there. the leechers annoy real players, who then decide not to go to the maps anymore. so in the end, leechers profit, and real players get turned off by the maps even more, defeating the entire purpose of the event.
anet needs to address the issue before creating more problems.

This is completely true. I see the same names over and over leeching and I've reported them and I'm sure many others have reported them but ANET isnt doing jack.
If you're banning bots then why arent you banning these people? They're worse than bots, they're indirectly farming for gold AND they're runining the gaming experience directly. How is that not a banneable offense? For crying out loud do something ANET.

I thinl it is More of the events team is bored. They got the next event (hopefully another Mad King) all ready to go, and they got to keep busy. Me personally, I would like to see them help out the bug swatters.

I think the OP has a point here. I need about 100 more amber, and to get that doubled Kurz faction I have to play FA on the Kurz side, meaning a lot more losses. Which also means I probably will have to cap Life Barrier and try bonding. -.- Not that it matters anyway, since Luxons bring EoE half the time.
So definately not fun.
That was meant in sarcasm..although I do think Anet needs to do *something*, they know that offering these events will make the majority happy, and thats all that matters.

I can't see why leachers would increase during this weekend. I would imagine that bots are in those arenas for hours at a time before someone checks on them, and in that time they accumulate 10k faction. During the double weekend, they'll fill up faster, but unless they have someone babysitting them all day, it won't make a difference. And if someone's babysitting them all day...well they might as well just play the bloody game, eh?

Double the leechers!
I'm going no where near there this weekend.

This event, and the quick response to EoE and alliance battles screams real world testing to help flesh out factions.. before it's abandonded for the most part and screams help to tweak nightfall with whatever new pvp or alliance/missions like FA "carryover" while nightfall is in it's design phase.

Maybe this is the chance Anet needs to view the problem and deal with it. I see no reason to cancel it reguardless. You are always going to have leechers and its just a matter of time before Anet comes up with a way to stop them.
The only thing we can hope to gain from this is, faction and maybe that Anet will gain some insight into this problem area.

Hopefully their insight is good as well as prudent. Its going to suck to see leechers in Jade Quarry, though, unlike aspenwood, you can still play even with 4 ppl and win.

I fully agree with the OP... I will avoid Aspenwood like the Plague... Its bad enough already. Just today I tried that mission for fun..(its a fun mission when real people play it.)and 9-10 times I had 2-3 bot lechers. Kurzaks need all 8 to win most of the time, and I got sick of looseing because of BOTS. Most of us that do aspenwood know and report the lechers and nothing ever happens. I hope they add in game GM's who auto boot people for a month.
BOTS = FTL

I thought Anet offcially stated that they will do nothing about leechers?
as much as I hate leechers, I this this is more of a ploy to increase sales than to catch leechers.

Keeping it short: I will use this weekend as a chance to map the 4 zones on both Kuzick and luxons side. I wonder if they will have similar NPCs that can bring you to those areas and if so wont new players with their lowbies toons get a chance to map them and enter the missions???
Just food for though, would be interesting to see level 1s in those areas and be able to passby the locked gates and main story line lol.

You're forgeting the touchers, between the hordes of touch rangers and leechers (basically the same thing) FA is going to suck HARD, and no JQ won't be any more fun because of the same damn thing.
Really I'm starting to lose a lot of faith in Anet and might start looking for other games to play. It's getting ridiculous at the amount of shit we're having to put up with.
